Anything to Note =

I didn’t finish until 1am last night with expense work I had to do for a broker I do bookkeeping for every couple of months – I had to schedule a session to catch up before I leave since I will be gone for a while. It took me so long though as I realized I hadn’t been there since February as was so busy, so had a lot to do!!

Annoyingly the air was off in the office too so I was dying!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For hours and hours šŸ˜¦

My new shoes hurt so much yesterday and I had planned to do the rest of my walking cardio after my expense work on my way home. Granted, I had no clue I would be there so long and finish so late, and how the shoes would get worse over the day, so IĀ realized in the midst of crunching numbersĀ that I had to have a plan B for the rest of my cardio.

So, being the crazy person I am, I sped-walked around the office barefoot! In the dark hot aisles of the office, in the dark of the night! I was the only one in the office but there were a few across the way in the other office buildings I saw were also working late – hope they didn’t see me on my crazy office laps!

So after my office walk-a-thon I decided to cab it home. It was strange actually how there were no cabs for ages! I was on Park Avenue which usually has a lot.

I was about to give up hope when an off duty taxi stopped for me. I said I was going to Astoria and if he didn’t mind since he was off duty – he said no problem.

He seemed nice.

Then he turned on some beautiful classical music and asked me how the air felt and if it was okay for me.

That was really nice.

I noticed him going slowly over all and any bumps we hit on the way – which no cabbie does!

I am sure the little schmonkey found that nice!

And then, to top it off, he waited for me to go inside the front door before he drove off!

Which was super nice!

I think a little cabbie fairy was watching over me šŸ™‚ And perhaps saw my bump when he picked me up?? Regardless, a nice way to end a long and hot and annoying day!

365 ONE: day 176…Far Far-Away

Anything to Note =

Long day.

I had to drive to Cederhurst which is out near Far Rockaway, to read the board minutes for the apartment we are interested in – there was no other way but to drive there as no subway was near the management office annoyingly.

Then had to drive back and park it in the garage in Astoria and walk up to the subway.

Then had to go to the office, despite how brief, to take care of things there for the limited time I could before I had to leave again to go to my glucose specialist doctor appointment.

So then had to get up to St. Lukes hospital for that appointment.

That actually took way longer than anticipated – I had no idea – thought we would be just talking about things but instead I had to learn all about gestational diabetes as my slight rise in one of my glucose tests I did means now I have to do a whole week of testing with a glucose machine and pricking my blood to get readings and monitor myself as protocol.

So have to get the five or so times I do that into the schedule now too!

So I was supposed to run some errands up near Columbus Circle after I was done but was done later so managed to only do one thing off my “things to do before I leave for the UK” to-do list.

Then my phone died!!! Of course!! So was unable to take care of some work things so had to go home in order to charge the phone to respond and do some work.

And now am sweating buckets at home…..sweating me some buckets from the computer on my lap in my warm non-A/C living room while trying to get things done šŸ˜¦

I am trying to cool the bedroom down right now so I can go lie down!

I might as well be in a bath right now!

365 ONE: day 154…Apartment Search

Anything to Note =

Yesterday was a day of looking at Astoria apartments – ugh – exhausting!! I put in a quick search of cheapest two bedroom apartments for sale in Astoria, to see, as we kind of would love and prefer to stay in this area as we love Astoria – and five came up so managed to see them all yesterday!

And there is one we like but it all comes down to the friggin’ downpayment and coming up with money upfront for it…super annoying as really we can’t afford what they were asking for….

So then spent last night until late looking for listings further out in Queens that is cheaper but still have the subway nearby and still two bedrooms, and made notes on about 26 listings!

All morning I have been emailing the brokers my questions about these listings and now down to 19!! But still! This whole process is just annoying! And I am a licensed Real Estate salesperson and its still annoying!

One of the ones we liked yesterday in Astoria got an offer on it we found out and real estate moves so fast so I feel like I am in a time crunch!!! And its just building and building – you can get lost in real estate and looking and searching and questions and listings….ugh!

I wish there was some way to see all the apartments, all 19 of them left on my list, in one day without moving haha! So I can compare and Ā figure this out!! I need to invent a teleporter šŸ™‚

And how to grow money on trees!!!!

365 ONE: day 102…chatted up on the train…at 9am!!

So early in the morning, so tired, texting on my phone, and then I hear…

“What is that? A smartphone?”

And that’s how it all began!!

I look up to see a middle-aged quite large man standing next to me who started chatting to me about how he doesn’t have a cell phone, and he must be the last New Yorker not to own one, and he’s an accountant, and has many friends all over England, and has lived in Astoria for more than 40 years, in a house his father built actually, and he watches the theatre, and has a good friend who is big in the Yiddish theatre community, and really, he was sweet!

I, of course, am too nice so could not resort back to texting and emailing and ignore him, especially as we rode the N train together and then also switched to get on the 7 train together, as we were both going to Grand Central! And, I just feel bad and can’t just turn my back, so was chatty-von-chatto all the way from Astoria to work!

At 9am!

Right before we arrived at Grand Central, he said…

“I hope to see you again.”

Me: “I am sure we will bump into each other, I always see the same people on trains”

Him: “That would be great to ride the train again with a pretty lady like you”

Did he not notice the ring on my finger?? (that I did not try to hide but instead hold up on the pole I was holding on to near his eye line!)

Or the bump?? (I even opened up my coat and leant back!)

Oh well.

Trust my luck, I will probably see him tomorrow morning again!!!!!!!!!!

365 ONE: day 76…Gone Wrong Day!

Anything to Note =

Today was supposed to be a simple day.

Do some work in the morning, go to Costco with my friend Paloma, go to dinner with some other friends.

Instead TRAFFIC HELL screwed it all up!

I had a plan too. My cardio was going to be me jogging to the garage to get the car to go to Costco, but then ended up doing way more walking and way more friggin’ leg work in the friggin’ car while stuck in major friggin’ traffic!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can we tell I am annoyed haha!

It took me two hours to drive from Costco in Astoria to Paloma’s apartment in Harlem and back!! RIDICULOUS!! She had bought some heavier items and thought it would be no problem to drop her off so she didn’t have to carry anything and it should have been no problem, especially as its Saturday. So we decided to save on the stupid high price of the toll over to Harlem and take the free bridge, which sadly we got super stuck on!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Then I finally got her home but thought it looked better on the way back so thought I have a little time why not take the same free bridge back….but did not think about the construction down Second Avenue for the new subway, and yup, I got stuck again!!!!!!!

My leg was killing me by the end since I have a stick shift car!! ARGH!!!

And then sadly, I started to get super nauseousĀ while stuck in traffic šŸ˜¦ I hadn’t planned on it taking so long so had no lunch and ugh, the constant braking and starting of the car was jerking me back and forth and seriously not helping how sick I felt.

ThenĀ  I needed to pee!

AND…it had turned cold out and since I was now late to dinner with friends and the restaurant they picked was further away I had to go straight there and was not wearing enough!

It was supposed to be an easy relaxing day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!


Sidenote: the women at Costco today were crazy!! I watched two instances of women grabbing over people’s heads to get all the free samples before anyone else. Sooooo rude!!!

I went to see apartments in Queens today. The first I walked to as my cardio as it was about 20 minutes speedwalking from my apartment to thisĀ Woodside apartment. But then got an email from another listing I had written to telling me the keys were with the doorman for me to look at it too today. So, I plugged in the address into my google maps on my blackberry and hopped on a bus. I got to where I was supposed to be and it was NOT where I was supposed to be! Stupid effing google maps had taken me to the wrong place, the wrong TOWN!! I was in East Elmhurst when I was supposed to be in Rego Park!!! UGH!! It normally asks more questions if there’s more than one known location or I don’t know I didn’t really check to make sure either I guess….ugh!!!!!! I trust google maps, I do. So, was in the middle of nowhere now trying to get to another friggin’ area.Ā 

I finally figured out the correct place I had to be and found another bus not too far away that could get me there. As I was waiting for the bus a woman came up to me asking me if I was religious and if I had read and do read the bible. Clearly my answer of NO to reading the bible was the wrong answer as she then proceeded to lecture me about how wrong that is and got upset. I kept saying “No, thank you” but couldn’t go anywhere as was at the bus stop waiting for the bus!!!!

And I was frozen as thought initially I would walk to Woodside and back home after only.

Today I am PAYING big time for my stupid, no, STUPID “side jogging” stunt I pulled two days ago. My calves are killing me! I had troubles walking and moving yesterday but they always say the second day is the worst and boy are they right! I could not sleep last night as every time I went to shift sides I could feel the strain in my calves – like one wrong move and I could send my legs into cramps…it was horrible!!! HORRIBLE!!

I look like some sort of penguin today waddling around to avoid the pain of when the bend moves forward and stretches the back of my leg. UGH! So mad at myself for my stupidity! Honestly, this wasn’t an extreme Zoe move, it was a careless not thinking stupid move, and now it’s costing me! And I have tech tomorrow for my show that’s all week – a crucial week before opening of my show Friday! UGH!!

Not much else to report other than my stupidity. Walked around Astoria as my cardio in the FREEZING weather outside! Again, stupid.

And if you watch my crazy video upload, I can guarantee that you will be also calling my character today…ummm…crazy and STUPID!

Anything to Note =

Firstly, since this is fresh on my mind, please watch the ridiculous music video of my dance of the day song “I Wanna MMM” by The Lawyer!! The song itself is just hilarious for those of you have never heard it before, but we just looked up the video and it is bizarre!! Here…

Stuart had never heard this before although it came out a while ago and of course since it’s a Euro Dance Song it was a big hit in Euro Techno land! It’s also just funny! Stuart actually danced along for the first time, but I believe we were both doing the dance to work on our bowels moving after a huge meal out!! Haha! I Wanna…poop poop poop!! HAHA!! I am still so full that I am delirious!

Going backwards now, since I am crazy after all, I managed to get my fitness criteria in at rehearsal offstage in the scenes I was not in but I felt guilty as I didn’t want to distract or make noises while other people were working on stage…it was a little tedious but I knew we were going to dinner tonight straight after rehearsal so wanted to get it all done – sorry Loom Ensemble if I disturbed you in any way.

Again, on the crazy theme – I didn’t think the Loom movement today was enough so added wall squats when I could and then ended up still not thinking it was enough cardio so added more walking into my day. When is it enough, is what I want to know, since I clearly struggle with that.

I had to take the R train to Astoria tonight as it was closest to the restaurant and holy moly do I not want to take that train again! The tunnel tip-toe requirement was so hard! The tunnel is super long and it goes super slow…I was fumbling around in my boots – I am sure people were wondering why I could not keep still. It was horrible – will be avoiding that if possible!

And to end….I just want to say…I Wanna MMM…do you?


Day 10: January 18th, 2012 = COMPLETE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anything to Note =

Today was even busier (if that is even possible) than yesterday – I had so many different areas of Manhattan I had to be at, at specific times for appointments – from near the westside highway, to Columbus Circle, then up to Harlem, then back down to Grand Central and then over again to near the westside highway – so naturally again walking was something I wanted to make my cardio as I wouldn’t be home until after 11pm tonight so tried to walk in between these appointments as best I could. I managed a few but then got stuck from Columbus Circle to Harlem and from Harlem down to my office at Grand Central. If I wasn’t carrying a huge weight in my backpack, or could drop my backpack somewhere and was also allowed to run (as still not allowed to run due to my knee), I would have totally run through central park up to Harlem and back – it would have been amazing!! I would have done it!!

I tell you what’s really hard is to speed walk AGAINST the wind! It’s annoying in my cardio moment but kind of funny actually as you sort of feel tiny and weak and almost like a little child learning to walk for the first time. I like to shout at the wind as I am trying to push through at the same speed – I don’t advise this on the busy avenues like 8th or near Times Square, but over on 10th avenue, now that was like my own private battle – me versus the wind!!


The morning was off to a slow start today too, literally. The train decided to creep through the tunnel and so there I am on my tip-toes, wobbling and praying the bloody tunnel would end already!! It’s something I knew could be a factor – slow tunnel speeds or even tunnel stops. Ugh. Not happy about that. This was my first encounter of that on tip-toes. Isn’t it great when your morning starts off like crap….it sets up the whole rest of the day to be….crap!

And while I was holding up on my tip-toes praying for 59th Street and Lexington to appear, I realized that this was not my first official 365 Challenge. Last year, my good friend Paloma Woo and I set ourself a challenge to see each other once a week at least, so a total of 52 times and we actually made it!! So, that really should be considered 365 ONE and now I should be calling this 365 TWO…but they are two very different things…hmmmmmm….will need to think about this as I maybe need to come up with a 365 project name that encompasses it all and not number the 365 Challenges. Any ideas?? I need a wide scope 365 title to address all 365 Challenges I do in my lifetime. Am open to any suggestions.

This long day meant that I had a lot of 365 criteria to get done still at the end of the day when home, annoyingly. I was too busy to sneak them in at all. I managed to get some stretching exercises done and also 10 push-ups during rehearsals but the rest I had to do still. So decided to do some stretching leg exercises while on the subway but boy do you get funny looks from people – it must make their day to see something crazy! You can get away with anything in NYC. I think I need to be more risk-ey and take advantage of that more with this 365 Challenge…we’ll see…
