I am leaving on a jet plane…

It’s LEAVING DAY!!!!  It’s TRAVEL DAY!!!!

CRAZY!!!

I think I’ve mentioned this before in another blog, but it’s funny because Stuart and I are leaving today – Stuart for only two weeks right now – but we’re not flying on the same flight! We leave within 20 minutes of each other from JFK, from different terminals, on different airlines – me on BA and Stuart on Virgin (which is way better!). And we arrive within 20 minutes of each other at Heathrow tomorrow, different terminals.

It worked out cheaper this way as I had to get on a BA flight to be on the same return flight as my mum when I come back to the States, but the cheapest flights were not BA, so Stuart did one of those cheap-not-know-you’re-airline sites and got on Virgin – so that was cool!

So we’ll see each other when we drive to JFK tonight  and then I will see him again when I get picked up tomorrow morning after we arrive! Strange!!

If only we could communicate across the ocean, thousands of miles up in the air!!

If only BBM worked while flying haha!!

I will miss him 🙂

But we get to save money so that’s a bonus!

If I make it to the plane as still haven’t packed and am at the office…..aHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

So this is my last day in America until JANUARY!!!

For just under 6 months!!!

In 2012!!

That’s weird.

Next time I’ll be back in the USA it will be in 2013 with a little schmonkey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BIZARRE!!!!

I had to meet with a client this morning to see her apartments to take on as a potential client along with her listings for my boss. I was warned that this client was a little difficult and despite the warning I was indeed surprised, however once you step back from the personal attack, I became intrigued with her as a character!

She was difficult to say the least but seriously what a woman! It was fascinating to step back and observe her at the same time. She would be one hell of a character to take on and portray, so I very much enjoyed learning and gaining insight to such a personality.

Of course I less enjoyed being told off. Yup, I was literally told off! Numerous times. Literally.

– I was told off for saying “yes” or responses of affirmation as she was speaking despite her obvious pauses for agreement or some sort of beckoned response, as this apparent “agreeing” interrupted her but also implied to her that I was finishing her sentences, or that is how she felt it to be.

– I was told off for not taking notes as soon as she started speaking.

– I was told off for having left too long of a message on the phone the day prior.

– I was told off for basically having a muddled accent that her trained professional ear could not decipher, or better yet, pin point, so it kept throwing her.

– I was told off for not speaking from my gut in register all the time, and thus I was too much in my head voice.

– I was told off for nodding! Again, the affirmation it gave off apparently meant I was interrupting and not listening to her at all.

– I was told off for speaking too fast at times.

– I was told off for saying information that to her was irrelevant and so why should she care.

At first it was startling, and I had to re-group and adapt quickly. I also found it very difficult to not nod or respond in some way as she was speaking as I guess that is something I do and is engrained and a part of me! I kept catching myself doing it! Despite the pauses and tone of her speaking that I believed begged for some sort of affirmation whether a vocal “yes” or a nod,  I realized that I just do that naturally regardless of such a pause or tone.

Well after being told off and dealing with it all and adapting rapidly as we talked I started to admire her and her ways as a strong single older female and just treated her as a subject matter to study and not be personally afflicted by it. Everyone is different and she is certainly one of a kind! Laugh internally, shrug it off internally, take it with a grain of salt, and move on – that’s the motto!

At the end of speaking, after she had “vented” a bit about things (her words), she actually apologized a bit for her being so grouchy and explained that prior events that were “vented”about were the reason to why she was taking out her frustrations on me, but then also announced what a tough cookie she was (if I hadn’t gathered that already haha!).

But make no mistake – that was not apologizing – as you just know that’s just whats she’s like. Which was further confirmed by a later phone call where I was told off again numerous times.

So, she must be treated with caution. Especially if she takes us on to represent her listings – there are lessons to learn and rules to follow when dealing with her now that I’ve met her and spoken with her. She said numerous times today how she fired the last representation she had, and that person she said was a really good friend of hers!! Great!

Hmmmmm….

The word that comes to mind is = oyvey!

365 ONE: day 130…Slow Boat to China in Hectic-Ville!

First day of Jose Rivera rehearsals today!! WOO HOO!!!

An exciting day in terms of it being the first day of an amazing opportunity but the day was just hectic to say the least.

It started out with a slow boat to China…the trains today were soooooooooo slow….and not just in the morning it turned out, it was ALL trains ALL day!! The train system was just out to get me when I had such a busy day! Had to go to work and then dash (or slow boat it) to rehearsal, then be on call with calls forwarded and my blackberry flashing on the table in front of me for five hours and dealing with that, and then dashing (slow boating) back to the office to deal with things and catch up….and still here!! Sooooo sad!!! I am guessing the train back home will be a slow boat too!! Boo 😦

(this guy looks peaceful at least though!!!)

And you know what slow boating meant….more friggin’ tip-toe time!!!! As if I need more of that, seriously!! And more standing time! Ugh.

Next up, the escalators didn’t work at Grand Central and they are loooooong! Now granted, I always walk up them but at least they are moving!! It makes such a difference, and you can’t stop to rest as you have to keep up with the crowd in front and behind or you’ll get schmooshed! I had a flashback to my stairs cardio at the office the other day – miserable!

One of those days….and it just continued and continued!

My boss is out of the country, my intern has finals for law school, the new employee is in the Bahamas getting her visa, and daytime rehearsals started today……….

So the best I could do was watch my blinking and flashing and call forwarding blackberry, and every break I got in rehearsal, (and some sneaky under the table moments),I checked and responded and dealt with office life that was still going on around! Which should normally be fine but this week has been CRAZY!! I mean, talk about drama – there is always drama around me, and with me, I know I know – I am a drama queen – but I fully accept and take responsibility for my OWN drama but I am not causing the office drama! Just bad timing week with everyone out but little me to fend off everything! Which is fine….just complaining…thank you blog 🙂

And thank you kind ears…or eyes…reading 🙂

I did have to change my cell phone voice message as the calls were being forwarded and I realized I couldn’t have them be ringing the office and then getting transferred to me singing “Za-Za-Zoe”!!! So have an odd professional message now…which I apologize for…BUT it will be back hopefully over the weekend, after another day tomorrow that will be exactly like this!

So don’t fear folks the singing message you all love so much will be back in no time!

Okay, need to get out of here as been working like a crazy woman for over 12 hours now!!!!!!!!!!!!!
