365 ONE: day 246…It’s a Small World After All

Day 246: September 10th, 2012 = COMPLETE!!!!!!!

Cardio was = Walking

Dance of the Day was = “Come Back Darling” by UB40

Improvised Acting Video I uploaded to my other blog was = “Nothing in the Fridge”

Anything to Note =

Yesterday I had one of those moments – the coincidence moment – that weird freaky feeling where the world suddenly seems so small…

We were on the bus and on our way to visit our family friend and this woman sat next to my mum and pulled out a book to read (me of course standing per 365!) Hours and hours later, we got back on the bus to go home, and my mum sat down…and we both looked over and it was the same woman next to her reading the same book!!

It was hilarious and made me laugh out loud! Such a weird freaky moment that they would be on the same bus at the same time and then sit next to each other again! Considering how many hours had passed, that there is a bus every 10 mins, and then be sitting next to each other! Too funny!

But doesn’t it happen a lot though?? And think how big the world is yet you see the same random person again, or try to avoid someone in a city of millions and then you see them….and just think of how many factors have to align to make that happen! Soooo weird!

It happens to me a lot, but the best by far was when I was traveling to Greece years ago from America…

I can’t remember how long ago it was, I want to say when I was at Middlebury, and I flew home to Greece for a short time so I think it was for something like Thanksgiving break or Spring Break…it was for some short time period as I remember I went as it worked out to be super cheap to do so! Ah back in the day when you could find cheap off season prices!

Anyway, I was alone and had homework to do, so I was trying to get some done on the plane over when this guy came up to me and knelt down next to me in the aisle and said hello and introduced himself. He then asked me out “on a date” ON THE PLANE to watch the in-flight movie that was about to be shown and if I would like to join him as he had seats open next to him a few rows down!!!

I was like, ummmmm….no!! I said I had homework to do – which I then had to do the whole flight as he was literally a few rows away AND his family were on my row!! He said he was a wrestler and traveling with his family to Greece to then drive to Croatia to see a wrestling event…all the while his family were of course nearby listening in…but I kept saying “no, thank you” to his date offer…it was all just crazy and too funny!

Anyway, a few days later I was flying back to the USA, sat in my seat, pulled out more homework to finish, and who sits next to me?????? The wrestler guy and his family!!!!!

UNBELIEVABLE!!!

We were on the same flight after that whole weird date thing, AND he was sitting next to me!!! I mean, what are the odds!!!

He could not believe it either so kept saying “it’s a sign so now you have to go out with me” and all I could do was laugh!!

Well I certainly could not get away with homework so had to chat with him for the journey, but I still refused a date for when we were back in America!! But it was a long plane ride home!

I also remember he played a trick on me for hours as of course we were stuck chatting, so me and skiing came up and that I was a ski racer and he said his sister was Picabo Street, a very famous ski racer, and one of my all time favorites! He showed me his passport too and his last name was Street and he had his whole family in on it too showing me their passports. Turns out that it was just that his last name was indeed Street, and he was of no relation to the ski racer! But it was his way to keep my interest, keep the coincidences alive, and perhaps say yes to a date!!

We left it at – if we ever see each other again then I HAD to go on a date with him…and I agreed in fear we might somehow have another coincidental meeting…but thank god, it never happened again!

It’s a small world! Seriously!

Although now that i have brought it up, I hope I haven’t jinxed it and suddenly see him in Chiswick!!!

365 ONE: day 104…Bolt Bus Bust!

Day 104: April 21st, 2012 = COMPLETE!!!!!

Cardio was = Walking with Bags in Rain

Dance of the Day was = “Lambada” by Kaomo

Improvised Acting Video I uploaded to my other blog was = “On Set At Eden Valley”

Anything to Note =

It was a Bolt Bus day. And annoying trips both on my way to my filmshoot in Baltimore MD and back to NYC. Plus it was a long day as my bus left near Madison Square Gardens at 7.45am and then had to be on the 7.45pm back, which meant I was up at 6am and didn’t get back home until after Midnight. Ugh.

Both on the way there and back of course someone chooses me to sit next to when both bus trips the bus was not full! Always happens. I must have a sign on my forehead or a low maintenance vibe. You can see why they chose me when you look at what the other people are doing – sitting on the aisle and putting their belongings on the seat near the window so taking up both seats. I can’t do that. I think that’s a bit of a jackass thing to do, so I couldn’t do that.

I was so tired so I tried to sleep on the way out there – why I thought I could sleep on a bus when I can’t sleep well in my own bed was beside me, but tried – and you guessed it…..failed. I’m having issues with being uncomfortable these days – can’t sleep as am uncomfortable, after I eat I feel uncomfortable, so naturally on the bus I felt uncomfortable. My bum was uncomfortable! Was wearing flowy trousers in order to BE comfortable and the seats were leather so I kept sliding down them! It was super annoying! Thought it was me slipping down while trying to sleep but bum hurt again on the way back without me doing anything – so I don’t know! The Bolt Bus seats did not agree with me! It makes me wonder though about flying and whether I will have a problem sitting in those airplane seats for long periods of time too. Ugh I hope not!

Well I would have stood for the two 3.5 hour bus rides but I could not justify that as part of my “no sitting on public transportation” 365 criteria as that really is for in-city commuter transport, AND ummmmm that would be CRAZY!

Would have typed this up and done my video upload to youtube with the free wifi on the Bolt Bus but it was horribly slow! And kept kicking me off, so gave up.

AND I lost my water bottle on the Bolt Bus on the way back, so was soooo thirsty!

Clearly the Bolt Bus experience, my first, was not the highlight of the day!

What was the highlight was arriving on set as it was gorgeous. I got in a little early after all that so there I was on a porch of a house with a purple door listening to just nature in the woods – amazing! It was too bad I couldn’t just sun tan all day and not have to get into white makeup to play the mother dying of cancer 😦

Another highlight – two bees mated on the chair next to me on the porch haha! And I managed to get a photo of it although only had my blackberry on me annoyingly at the time and not my ipod to video or get a good shot, so here is what I got…

(sidenote: just had to re-type the whole blog as tried to save time by typing some of my post on my blackberry and then copied and pasted it thinking it would save me some time as its so late and it wouldn’t friggin’ format – so thank you Stuart for reading it out for me to re-type directly into wordpress…..an end to annoying day!!!!!!!!!!)

(Oh and another sidenote quickly – had dinner with a good friend from the UK yesterday and I said I would mention and thus tag her as part of my 365 but had already written yesterday’s blog so this is a shout out to you Jemma Withers!!)

365 ONE: day 70…Cardio…in a Mall!

Day 70: March 18th, 2012 = COMPLETE!!!!!

Cardio was = Walking

Dance of the Day was = “Mixanh Tou Xronou” by X

Improvised Acting Video I uploaded to my other blog was = “Stuart Uncomfortable in Hotel”

Anything to Note =

Was on call to go back to the set as one of the actor’s car broke down yesterday so we could not shoot any of the scenes with him in it so I therefore was on call today to make up those scenes before the big masquerade scene that would take us late into the evening tonight.

So, Stuart and I decided to go to the mall that was an attraction nearby called Arundel Mills Mall and walk around that to spend some time together before Stuart had to bus it back as he has work at 8am tomorrow morning AND…get in some potential cardio 🙂

I was kind of joking that it would be my cardio but the mall was HUGE!! And it was in a huge circle so decided to do an outer loop and then do the inner loop, and by the end of it our legs were aching!! I think Stuart got annoyed with me though as on the outer loop I had to make sure we stayed on the true outer part so each time there was an entrance we had to go to it and then turn and come back in!! AND when we hit the massive food court I made us walk the outer loop of that too!

I know, I am cuckoo!! But it worked if we were aching to sit! Of course I would not allow that!!

There was actually some sort of excercise salsa latin live thing going on that looked like a good workout, but nope, I stayed to my mall plan 🙂

It was the most colourful mall I have ever been in – quite a nice walk around 🙂

365 ONE: day 59…a missed moment ah shucks!

Day 59: March 7th, 2012 = COMPLETE!!!!!

Cardio was = Walking/Stairs

Dance of the Day was = “Bang Bang (feat. Adam Levine)” by K’naan

Improvised Acting Video I uploaded to my other blog was = “Loom Three Ball”

Anything to Note =

We had our Loom Ensemble de-briefing session today to discuss some things after our show is now over so had to trek up to Washington Heights where Raffi and Neva live, all the way up on 181st street!! We used to have rehearsals up there in their converted living room they use as a studio space back in the day for our first Loom show last summer, so its been a while since I had gone up there, but I did remember the HUGE set of stairs from the A train up to the street that I would take and die on each time I had to go to rehearsal, so…..took that into account to include as part of my cardio today. I got to the stairs and was like, “No Problem!” so started to jog up them and half way through…you guessed it…

I DIED!!

So, I walked the rest of the way up and was severely out of breath after the last steps to the street. UGH!

I had already walked a bit as part of my cardio but then on the way home I took the A train to 125th Street to transfer to the good ol’ M60 bus to Astoria…which technically should be WAY faster than any other way from where I was coming from, but NO buses came so I kept walking to the next avenue stop, and the next, and the next, and ended up walking all the way from the west side to the east side for the bloody bus! Not one bus of any kind passed me as I walked past every stop where angry people waited. So more walking it turned out! I almost walked across the bridge over as was so irritated – would have if it wasn’t past 11.30pm!!

And my knee hurt today for some reason so was hoping to take it easy…boo!

What made my day though, but sadly was a missed moment on camera, was tonight at our de-brief. We were playing the three ball game, me and the rest of Loom Ensemble, after the business had been taken care of, and it was just too funny so turned on my ipod to video the drunkenness as my upload, and a few minutes after I turned it off, Kate went crashing down in an amazing way!! AHH! If only my ipod was still on – would have been a great submission to America’s Funniest Home Videos!!! 🙂

365 ONE: day 55…a trip around Queens thanks to Google!

Day 55: March 3rd, 2012 = COMPLETE!!!!!

Cardio was = Walking

Dance of the Day was = “Boom Boom Pow (David Guetta Electro Hop Remix)” by Black Eyed Peas

Improvised Acting Video I uploaded to my other blog was = “Dallas BBQ Stuart”

Anything to Note =

I went to see apartments in Queens today. The first I walked to as my cardio as it was about 20 minutes speedwalking from my apartment to this Woodside apartment. But then got an email from another listing I had written to telling me the keys were with the doorman for me to look at it too today. So, I plugged in the address into my google maps on my blackberry and hopped on a bus. I got to where I was supposed to be and it was NOT where I was supposed to be! Stupid effing google maps had taken me to the wrong place, the wrong TOWN!! I was in East Elmhurst when I was supposed to be in Rego Park!!! UGH!! It normally asks more questions if there’s more than one known location or I don’t know I didn’t really check to make sure either I guess….ugh!!!!!! I trust google maps, I do. So, was in the middle of nowhere now trying to get to another friggin’ area.

I finally figured out the correct place I had to be and found another bus not too far away that could get me there. As I was waiting for the bus a woman came up to me asking me if I was religious and if I had read and do read the bible. Clearly my answer of NO to reading the bible was the wrong answer as she then proceeded to lecture me about how wrong that is and got upset. I kept saying “No, thank you” but couldn’t go anywhere as was at the bus stop waiting for the bus!!!!

And I was frozen as thought initially I would walk to Woodside and back home after only.

Great.

THANK YOU GOOGLE MAPS!!! Oh, how I loved thee today!!!!
