We had our Loom Ensemble de-briefing session today to discuss some things after our show is now over so had to trek up to Washington Heights where Raffi and Neva live, all the way up on 181st street!! We used to have rehearsals up there in their converted living room they use as a studio space back in the day for our first Loom show last summer, so its been a while since I had gone up there, but I did remember the HUGE set of stairs from the A train up to the street that I would take and die on each time I had to go to rehearsal, so…..took that into account to include as part of my cardio today. I got to the stairs and was like, “No Problem!” so started to jog up them and half way through…you guessed it…

I DIED!!

So, I walked the rest of the way up and was severely out of breath after the last steps to the street. UGH!

I had already walked a bit as part of my cardio but then on the way home I took the A train to 125th Street to transfer to the good ol’ M60 bus to Astoria…which technically should be WAY faster than any other way from where I was coming from, but NO buses came so I kept walking to the next avenue stop, and the next, and the next, and ended up walking all the way from the west side to the east side for the bloody bus! Not one bus of any kind passed me as I walked past every stop where angry people waited. So more walking it turned out! I almost walked across the bridge over as was so irritated – would have if it wasn’t past 11.30pm!!

And my knee hurt today for some reason so was hoping to take it easy…boo!

What made my day though, but sadly was a missed moment on camera, was tonight at our de-brief. We were playing the three ball game, me and the rest of Loom Ensemble, after the business had been taken care of, and it was just too funny so turned on my ipod to video the drunkenness as my upload, and a few minutes after I turned it off, Kate went crashing down in an amazing way!! AHH! If only my ipod was still on – would have been a great submission to America’s Funniest Home Videos!!! 🙂

365 ONE: day 45…busy long day playing characters

Day 45: February 22nd, 2012 = COMPLETE!!!!!

Cardio was = Walking/Loom Movement/Squats/Lunges/Cross Country Slide Moves

Today was the first day of a couple of weeks of the NYU Mock Trials where every year about this time I play the role of the medical expert witness of Chlamydia! Yup, you heard that right! I literally know everything and anything there is to know about Chlamydia…ask me if you need to know anything 🙂 It’s a lot of work actually but it pays quite well – it feels like a live theatrical Law and Order show! So today I had my first attorney meeting with the NYU law students and you must remain in character through the end of the trial, so anytime I see them or correspond with them for next two weeks, so was in character when I turned on my ipod to do my video upload….not sure what I was doing in the video! ODD. BIZARRE. Hmmmmm…..

This year I am also playing another role in another NYU mock trial as I think an actor bailed, so I must now take off the Chlamydia hat and put on the ACS case worker hat for tomorrow’s meeting and start memorizing that role before I go to bed! Never a dull moment in the house (or mind) of Zoe 🙂

So today I was…me, then admin assistant at work, then expert professor in Chlamydia, then homeless pregnant woman, then me, and now soon an ACS case worker…

Never a dull moment, I tell ya!

Even though our Loom show is not again until Friday we had working rehearsals tonight and then a full run to tweak and adjust here and there ready for another weekend run. I was again able to resort to my old “fit-in-my-365-criteria-backstage” during rehearsal so that was good. I also schmooshed some odd “cardio” in there while the rest of the ensemble were rehearsing vocals and choreography so I was off to the side doing lunge things and squat things and then what I guess I am calling – “cross-country slide moves”….not sure what that really is! I think it was just freezing in the theatre that I was doing all kinds of weirdo moves to keep warm HAHA!!

365 ONE: day 42…oh some people….

Day 42: February 19th, 2012 = COMPLETE!!!!!

Cardio was = Walking

Dance of the Day was = “Don’t Call Me Baby” by Madison Avenue

Improvised Acting Video I uploaded to my other blog was = Crazy Patty

Not much.

Had a show today and then we had a talkback and then a donor party after to honor those that helped make our Loom Ensemble show happen…again thank you to those that contributed to our Kickstarter campaign to make this show possible 🙂

But, again am home late and had to again scramble to fit it all in today. I managed to get some 365 into the warm-up before the show but I can no longer rely on being able to do anything backstage during the show as the floor boards are really creaky!

I did today though try to finish some quiet stretching backstage, sneaking something in, and then all of a sudden a woman came backstage from the audience saying she drank too much diet coke and needed to pee! Right in the most silent part of the action going on onstage! And to make it all worse, the bathroom is quite close to the theatre but she knocked something off in there that banged super loud and then we heard her say “crap” followed by “I am okay!” HAHA!! And then came out and went back to her seat! Super distracting, but now that I am writing this down and relaying this, it’s actually quite funny 🙂

Not sure what happened to her in that bathroom though!

365 ONE: day 40….made it to the forties!

Day 40: February 17th, 2012 = COMPLETE!!!!!

Cardio was = Walking with Heavy Backpack on

Dance of the Day was = “Yeah” by Usher/Lil John/Ludacris

Improvised Acting Video I uploaded to my other blog was = “Waxing Humour”

Anything to Note =

I crossed the river into Manhattan FOUR times today and so that meant I had to do FOUR tip-toes on the subway 365 criteria, when usually its just twice a day. Super annoying that was! I should have detailed it to only be maximum twice a day. UGH! Ah the fine print!

The fine print that I created?? I’ve lost it! What fine print?? HAHA!!

I am rushing off to my opening night tonight of my Loom Ensemble show “Erosion: A Fable” so had to get everything done in between the day of craziness! It’s a 10pm show and I have a few 10pm shows in this run so I will have to try to get it all done before the show as after I will be home super late and have a feeling that will be the last thing I want to do! It’s proving quite the challenge though to sneak in this 365 🙂

Okay – need to go eat! ME HUNGRY!

(can you tell I’ve lost the plot??)

365 ONE: day 39…not a smart chicken!

Day 39: February 16th, 2012 = COMPLETE!!!!!

Cardio was = Walking

Dance of the Day was = “Bhangra Night Rider” by Punjabi MC

Improvised Acting Video I uploaded to my other blog was = “Crazy Passer”

Anything to Note =

I noticed a funny thing today, which I should have noticed weeks ago!! I am doing and have been doing my fitness and stretching 365 criteria backstage when I am not on stage and today, only today, after weeks of doing this, I realized that I have been doing all this in my costume – my homeless pregnant costume! I play a homeless pregnant woman in my play (that opens tomorrow!!) and I wear a pretty large pregnancy belly! And all this time I didn’t realize that I had been doing my push-ups and sit-ups and planks with all this on! Layers and layers, gloves and a pregnancy belly!! HAHA!!

Yup, I am clearly retardo!

RETARDO!!

And on that note…

Retardo here walked again as my cardio…in the rain….with my long trousers on dragging in the wet….and my trainers on that have mesh holes….wet….again!

RETARDO!!

And…one of my favourite songs came on, and in honor of my friend Nandita who is getting married in India soon that I sadly can’t attend, I tried to do some full-out Indian Bollywood moves and….yeah….not sure that was anything but RETARDO!!

365 ONE: day 38….home late :(

Day 38: February 15th, 2012 = COMPLETE!!!!!

Cardio was = Walking

Dance of the Day was = “Guajira (I Love You Too Much)” by Yerba Buena from Dirty Dancing the movie

Improvised Acting Video I uploaded to my other blog was = “Office Files”

Anything to Note =

Not really. Not much to note today. Am exhausted from a full day of work and then we had a tech run of our show, and rehearsals to work sections after until 10pm, so not much to report this late and this tired.

I am consistently finding time to insert my 365 criteria backstage at my show in the sections I am not on stage – although anyone who comes off stage usually finds me on the floor doing push-ups or the plank 🙂 I have to be careful not to be in people’s way that need to cross backstage for entrances but its been working. I have also had to walk from the office to the theatre as my cardio in order to get that in too – so its been a lot of walking, which I predicted to be my most usual daily cardio – I just hope I don’t get too sick of it being my cardio over and over every day. I will need to change it up but I am just to busy to do anything else right now.

I had some time to also squeeze in my dance of the day tonight at our section rehearsals as they were rehearsing everyone in either a dance or vocal part and I was left to do my own thing at one point, so decided to dance to my ipod in the corner of the room. Not sure I liked this though as it really made me feel like I couldn’t go full-out. I was facing the wall but knew people in the room were watching me and wondering what the hell I was doing! I also chose a salsa Latin song and wanted to go full-out but just felt restricted. I didn’t want to disturb anyone or take away their focus from what they were doing, and wanted to be quiet on my feet….all in all, I was a little disappointed with my decision to do my dance. But I wanted to get it out of the way really, as I did get home so late, but it sacrificed my joy and want. I mean, the song was from Dirty Dancing so wanted to do it the “real way”!

What really threw me is I chose a salsa Latin song as I thought it would be less distracting in the rehearsal room but I started to notice how sexual I was and then how visible I was being sexually in my dancing, and that deterred me – and you know, I am an exhibitionist and would never have a problem with this, I would normally love this, but I didn’t want to disturb quality rehearsal time we needed. The professional took over in me, not the exhibitionist this time. But, rightly so!

365 ONE: day 31…walk like a New Yorker

Day 31: February 8th, 2012 = COMPLETE!!!!!

Cardio was = Walking

Dance of the Day was = “Walk Like An Egyptian” by The Bangles

Improvised Acting Video I uploaded to my other blog was = “Beauty Sleep”

Anything to Note =

I decided to walk from rehearsal downtown up to Penn Station as my cardio but it was sort of snowing or “snowing” and it was all wet out and so my feet got soaked 😦 A combination of long dragging trousers with my trainers that of course have holes in the mesh and so I was certainly not designed for a wet walk-a-thon. It was really half way through when they got soaked but I could not stop half way through!! No no, not I! Even when my trousers were weighing down by the wet weight and I had to hold them up until the end, no no…that did not deter me! The “snow” would not keep me from my goal!! 🙂

I had a funny moment though on my start of my walk with fellow Loom Ensembler Helen. I was chatting to her and walking over the grates and suddenly the grate flicked up and my heart skipped a beat as I grabbed Helen! Holy Schmoley! It has crossed my mind in the past to whether anyone has fallen through one of those grates – there are some iffy grates around NYC! And I don’t have a problem with them, hence I walk on them – unlike those I watch who purposefully avoid them! But, I have wondered if anyone had ever fallen through…and I do admit to walking warily over them, and was even thinking about it right then, but never expected it to flick up like that!! I almost had a “lets-sue-the-city” moment!

Be careful New Yorkers!!
