Stuart arrived this morning 🙂

It was so nice to see him after almost two months….which is crazy!! I can’t believe it has been so long since I have seen him! It’s funny as I was a little scared about seeing him as I am a whale!!! But also as it means we are getting close to the end with less than a week to go until the official due date, but really it can happen anytime!

But it was so lovely to see him as I had missed him so much regardless of my scary feelings under it all too.

I still don’t believe it’s real, that he is here. I also haven’t had any time to just be me and him yet as today we had the Burgess family over too (sadly I could not arrange for all members to be present for Stuart but managed to get two siblings, their families and his mum), so that was wonderful, and Tony, Stuart’s wonderful friend who I love, and who took our beautiful NYC wedding photos (if anyone needs a fantastic photographer let me know as Tony is your guy!!! Seriously!!)

Thank you to Tony, Alice, Ollie, Neil, Haylie, and their little ones Charlie, Lily, Grace for trekking to London to come see us!

It was so nice to have everyone all together for when Stuart arrived – even though, poor thing, Stuart must have been exhausted as he did not sleep on the plane (both he and I can’t sleep on planes) so he had to stay awake for a super long day. I just allowed him to go to bed now haha! I told him he had to make it to at least 9pm so that he falls into the UK time zone and beats the jet lag.

So I guess we will “see” each other and be with each other tomorrow as today was a whirlwind!

But it’s good to have the little schmonkie’s daddy around!!!! Ahhhhh…so weird to say!!

It’s funny as Paloma, my friend in NYC made a comment on Whatsapp messenger while we were chatting that every sentence she says seems to start with “I can’t believe….” and it’s so true as I feel exactly the same! I can’t believe anything!! And I always want to start with that beginning to every sentence!

Well, there’s no other way to say it but – I can’t believe Stuart is here!

Side note: am here typing the blog upstairs near the Internet while hopefully Stuart is sleeping downstairs, but what’s funny is that my parents are watching Downton Abbey behind me in the kitchen while I type and my mum is hilarious!! She is literally talking to the TV! To the characters haha! Commenting along with things like “No, don’t tell her!” and making grunts and emotional noises! I wish I had captured that on video…may have to try at some point!

I don’t have time to blog much as I left it too late tonight as had a busy day – had a lovely lunch with my friends, who gave me some wonderful baby gifts – thank you guys…you shouldn’t have!!! Then my dad arrived so was spending some time with him 🙂

We didn’t get to be with my dad for his birthday so we had a mini birthday celebration tonight and just gave him his presents – small things – but a couple of them I had for him for his Christmas presents and sadly we could not be together so I’ve had them for almost a year!

I’m the kind of person that has a “present box” under the bed (no looking anyone!!) and if I see something that is perfect for someone I will buy it no matter what time of year and store it away for their birthday or Christmas…depending of course if I have the funds on me at the time I see the perfect gift…and if not, I try and remember to write it down….yup, I’m a geek 🙂

But it comes in handy, like my mum’s birthday is coming up in October, and I have some Christmas presents I had for her too in that box, so that makes up half of them already 🙂

Only thing is I have to remember to look in the box! As a couple of times I have bought presents and then a few months later looked in the box and already had enough presents! Oh well, then I have to save them for the next event 🙂

It’s a day of traveling today…my dad arrives and Stuart right now is on his way to the airport!!! Crazy times!!!!

All soooooooo close to the doom day haha….and by that I mean the due date….which is only one week away!!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

Anyway, have a safe flight POOKIE!!!! I will see you in the morning 🙂

365 ONE: day 249…LOST FINAL SEASON, FINALLY!!!

So last night my mum and I finished watching Lost season 6, the final season, that I had bought on DVD for her.

I LOVED Lost – it was a great series and even though I caught on late and had to watch the first three seasons in one go, which I did in less than a week!! It was one of the best shows I had ever seen.

There was no way I could watch it live though and have to wait a full week to wait for the next episode, especially with the cliffhangers at the end of each episode…I don’t know how anyone can wait a whole week to see what happens next with any show really!! It’s sooooo annoying! But even more so with Lost!

I would try though sometimes to watch it live as everyone would talk about it the next day so it was hard not to get any spoilers, but my schedule hardly allowed me to keep up, so for some of the seasons I waited for the DVD, some I watched on ABC.com as they would become available the next day after airing live, and some I would watch live with friends….but we were usually drunk before meeting up so then had to watch it again as had no clue what happened!! 🙂

And, if people know me…any chatting during shows or movies or anything results in me getting annoyed and pausing on remote, or rewinding back to re-watch…as I take them very seriously!! Haha! I recognize my crazy but I can’t help it!!

My mum is the most annoying as she will randomly chat about something that has nothing to do with what’s she’s watching or she asks questions that either just happened or will happen….and all she has to do is watch!! And with Lost, when everything is crucial information….there is always a lot of pausing!!!!

It has become a ritual with us with Lost. Since my mum and I watched the first three seasons together over a week one Christmas holidays years ago as everyone was raving about it, every year since then I would buy her the next season on DVD to watch over the Christmas holidays. I would have already watched it, depending on how much time I had, but we would addictively sit and watch the whole season in just a few days. And people who had no interest, like my dad, would have to watch something else. Although with my dad it worked out well as he would go to bed earlier anyway or want to watch the news. But then when Stuart came into my life and started to come with us for Christmas I then had to get him on the same page in order to be included!! So he had to catch up before he came out the first time and had to watch I think three or four seasons in one go too! I know – we are crazy!! But otherwise he would be left out!! So I watched a bit of the catching up with him too…which was so interesting to do with all the knowledge I already had.

Anyway, Lost ended a while ago, and I had bought the last season, season 6, when it did, ready for my mum and Stuart to watch….but then that Christmas was split with me in London with my parents and Stuart in Redhill with his….so we waited. And then this last Christmas I couldn’t leave the country due to my Green Card application and my parents fell ill and could not travel…so then again it could not happen.

So it’s been a waiting game….and naturally, and I don’t blame them, people sort of gave up. It had been so long that Stuart lost interest and didn’t care any more and then my mum sort of did the same. Which I found sad as a true Lost fan!

I had watched the final season of Lost, all 16 episodes in ONE DAY, on the day of the finale, as I had to catch up on the whole season to make it in time for the live two hour finale event that evening!! And it was an emotional whirlwind of crazy!! So I had always wanted to watch it again when I had time and could really pay attention and see how I felt and be able to interpret the ending properly.

So I have been waiting to watch this last season again…and since it has been a ritual with my mum and Stuart, I didn’t want to be a poop and watch it without them…so I have been holding out….and it just never happened!

Anyway, I thought it would be a good idea to bring with me now since I would be gone for 6 months from NYC and may be a good time to make the others watch with me perhaps??? And then I realized that it had to be watched now, before the baby, as apparently I will have no life after the baby haha!! So….since Stuart said be didn’t care…I made my mum and I watch a few episodes every day on a pre-baby arrival rush, and we just finished last night!! (Don’t worry Stuart, if you want to watch it, which I think you should, I will gladly see it again with you!!)

I have to say it was hard because it had been years since season 5, so remembering all that info and complexities and then having to explain to my mum, was quite taxing! As well of course as my pausing and rewinding constantly because she was soooooo annoying!! So it did take us longer to get through…but it was GREAT!!!

What a great show! And what a shame really that it is over.

I was quite surprised with how I felt at the end this time. And how my mum and I interpreted it….can discuss properly now with my Lost buddies!! Since I was so out of it that one single day of watching them all!

My two friends Paloma and Brianna said they wanted to watch the whole of Lost again, from the beginning…we said in one weekend, but that would be quite the feat….although I kind of want to do it that way as it would be an amazing challenge…so let’s do it!

Anyone else want to join us???

Stuart…you can watch the little one until we get to season 6 and then you can join in, right???? Or the little monkey can be the youngest Lost fan and watch the whole thing with us! 🙂

I had another doctor appointment this morning – am supposed to schedule a visit to the local clinic and see an antenatal GP once every week now until the big bang happens!

So, off I went this morning. With my list of things to ask – or rather my mum’s list of things to ask!!

I especially wanted to know whether there had been any update in the “out of five scale” to how far the head was down as that is an indication of how close apparently you are to giving birth. I have been getting a lot of pressure and pains – which are probably contractions or the little monkey pushing down – and so was curious to what she would say.

Sadly though this check-up was with another doctor I had not seen before, as they alternate, and this one today was unfriendly and on auto-pilot!

It was an in-and-out and “Next!” scenario!

Sit down, check my urine sample, check my blood pressure, lie on the bed (without even bothering to put any sheet down!), belly out, measure baby, press for head down, listen to heartbeat, belly in and DONE!

No hello. No goodbye.

Just business. Belly business!

I mean, all of the checks she did came back fine but there was no place for questions or answers or any sort of environment to do so anyway…certainly not like with the other nicer woman!

She may have been having a bad day this doctor, or rushed for something, or who knows…but it left my mum speechless and she is NEVER speechless! She didn’t want to ask anything! I think she was thrown off by her robotic appointment to say anything! And it whisked straight past her!

20120912-184055.jpg

So now I don’t have any clue if the head has moved down further than last week, which was a 5 of 5 then, so who knows if birth is imminent or not! I assume she would have said something if so, but I guess we will see if it is!

Anyway, my next appointment is made for next Wednesday and thankfully it’s with the other doctor who I have seen twice already and who is lovely…so until then I guess…unless the little schmonkie decides he wants to make a preview appearance! It sometimes feels like he will!

How about you wait until your daddy (that is sooooooooooo strange to say!!!!!) arrives on Sunday…at least, little one!!! Deal?

Had a nice day today…

– it was sunny

– I had lunch with Stuart’s father at Cafe Rouge on his lunch break. It turns out that his new job that just started is right around the corner, so that worked out well!

– Cafe Rouge is one of my favorite places as it has one of my favorite things to eat there…baguette poulet! Yummy! So had me one of those 🙂

– I finished the baby name book woo hoo! So went back and tried to be as objective and non-attached as possible and put them in a list for when I’m ready to look at it properly. Or show it. Share it.

– I had some bites of some really good cheesecake!

– I had scones for dessert for dinner….which I love!!

And best of all…

And this is hilarious…

– I had mentioned to my mum that I had gone through the baby name book as she came in when I was copying down the names into a list and holding the book up…so essentially got caught and it then aroused her curiosity naturally! So she has been asking me all day to see the list! Anyway, she randomly comes up with names and just says them out loud – she has been doing that for a while – but today more so after seeing me do that, and we were watching something on TV about The Beatles and obviously music popped into her head as she threw out Simon and then Art. So I said No to Garfunkel to finish off her thought and she said how about Garth….which I of course said No to!

And then there was silence.

And suddenly my mum says…

Garth Radar.

And I looked at her about to say No, but she said – “you know, like that guy, Garth Radar”

And there was silence again as I looked at her to comprehend and said…

“Do you mean: Darth Vader??????”

And she nodded and burst into hysteric laughter!! And then I burst into laughter!!

That was amazing!! Garth Radar hahaha!!

My mum is obviously a true Star Wars fan hahaha!! That made my day!!
