HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my wonderful amazing dad!!

It is his birthday and me and my mum are in the UK and he is in Greece….which in the history of my life has never happened before. I have spent every single birthday with my father, and always made an effort to be where ever he is in the world, by his side to celebrate.

But today.

I tried so hard to find him a flight over but I failed.

I searched for days and nothing. Everything was sold out or outrageous in price! And I mean outrageous!!! Like thousands of pounds or euros – I mean even if you had lots of money it’s still not justifiable to spend such an outrageous amount of money to go just within Europe…these prices are equivalent to flying to America from Greece, or even to Australia and beyond!

This must be a combination of fuel prices, cutting back on the number of planes they have out there, that it’s August still, that the Paralympics start tonight, that people booked holidays after the Olympics ended, and pure poop against the less financially able, like us!!

Poop I say, again!!

So it’s just a little sad today as we can’t be together, and I, the travel agent in the family could not make it happen, so I feel guilty 😦

And it’s just sad as it centers around our financial crisis my family is going through and what life used to be about – just jump on a plane and go, anything for family – and now – when every penny needs to be watched or taken into consideration or justified…and I have always hated money and been money conscious but for my parents this downhill has really hurt them. And they are still just so generous and wanting to give us, give me, everything…and since I can’t fly I know my dad wanted to be here for me, with me, to give me that, and…could not.

Ugh.

I need to seriously play the lottery because I owe him the world. I hate money so much but life cannot function without it and I just wish I had it for my parents, not me. I am the eternal bargain hunter 🙂 And they come first in my eyes.

I’m sorry daddy.

Happy Birthday Loon (that is our nickname for each other, between me and my dad, which I know sounds funny and weird haha, but its Loon or Loonie, or Loonaki – Greek variations of that word!!)

I have no idea how and when that came about actually haha!! But it has nothing to do with the literal English translation of a crazy person or a bird haha! Just special nicknames for each other 🙂

Can you tell I am the ultimate daddy’s little girl???!!!!

My dad wants to come over for the birth of the little schmonkie so I will just have to organize a birthday celebration for my dad then…and get him some big presents to make up for him not being here with us today 🙂

Anything to Note =

I just spent hours….HOURS….literally trying to go online to do my 365 upload while watching the closing ceremony of the Olympics…so am irritated. The stupid wireless router downstairs where I am staying is just not working…..ahhhhhhhh!!!

So I apologize for any weird tones in this upload as am annoyed!!!!!!

Anyway…

I arrived in London late last night. Much cooler here so hopefully it will stay like that – although when I went out to do my walking and some grocery shopping earlier it was quite warm….but of course cooler than Greece!

So this is it then.

The final haul.

The final leg on the journey.

No more flying, now it’s…nesting time.

I knew I had NYC to get through until I left for London with Stuart to see his family and friends. And then I knew I had London with Stuart to go through. And while in London I knew I still had Greece ahead to see my family. And then with the extension of the Greece trip that helped stall the idea of flying back to London.

And now, it’s back to London…to have the baby!!

What the????!!!!!

That freaks me out! Now that I am here. On that final leg of the journey.

20120813-011536.jpg

Ahhhhhhhhhhhahhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

Super overwhelming!!!!

I still don’t know what is going on, despite my super uncomfortable flight from Athens to London last night – the little schmonkie was moving around a lot and I had a lot of pressure, and then nausea….not so great.

This little schmonkie is moving around a lot in general. A LOT!!!

Yeah, still in denial….but I do know that instead of going to bed last night after I arrived I went into work mode and wanted to unpack everything, and put all baby things away into the baby chest of drawers that I had left in the flat after I arrived from NYC, and set up things, and build the foldable stroller my mum had bought us, and read all the stroller instructions, and open the Moses basket and put the changing mat on top of the drawers, and put away all the clothes after folding them all and sorting them by size, and the baby bath tub, and the baby bath products, and the baby blankets, and the…..and the…..and…..

I was up until 4am doing all this!! Amid fighting tears and emotions that kept arising, then back to denial to push on and get it all done.

I eventually had to stop as my back was seizing.

I did too much as I am feeling the pain today in my feet, legs and back. I just had to do all I could for some reason…I get like that.

Maybe to get it out of the way in one go and not be overwhelmed multiple days, although I am overwhelmed every day, so hmmmmmm….

Okay, must post this before something with this Internet fails and I lose it!!

365 ONE: day 212…Mosquito Nightmare!

Day 212: August 7th, 2012 = COMPLETE!!!!!

Cardio was = Walking

Dance of the Day was = “Mamacita Buena” by Claydee

Improvised Acting Video I uploaded to my other blog was = “Mosquito Battle”

Anything to Note =

I had a fight with a mosquito at 2am this morning for over half an hour.

It was me versus this annoying effing mozzy.

I was watching TV and saw it fly past the TV light and I was like UGH!!

Then I got itchy as it had already bitten me in several places the mongoid!!!

So then it was on!! It was a battle to the death!!

Lights went on. I was focused on all the lights in the room, ready with my hands out to clap it to death!

I kept missing it though!! It was on the door at one point and I realized it was huge!! I wish I could have taken a photo of it as it was really big but weird looking, with an almost bright orange/yellow tinge to it – with long long legs! I picked up the iPad to take a photo but it had already left. It kept disappearing and then would be on me trying to bite me again! It flew into my face at one point!

That really pissed me off! I mean, I was seriously getting irritated.

I finally cornered it in the bathroom. I saw it fly in there so ran in and shut the door behind me. It’s a brighter and smaller space to deal with but it kept coming to attack me – like straight for me! It was insane! And so difficult to keep track of!

Finally I clapped out in front randomly as I saw it coming and got the mofo!!

I had blood all over my hands as it was obviously full of MY blood!!

But how satisfying to kill it! I even made a noise when I got it – probably inspired by all the Olympics I’ve been watching haha!! I let out a loud groan of success when I got it!! You know, like they do when they throw the shot put or discus or hammer throw haha!! 🙂

It’s 43 degrees here in Athens, which is ridiculous, like over 108 degrees Fahrenheit or something (don’t quote me on that as have no idea!!) – but no wonder there are so many mofo mozzies flying about. They are everywhere in this heat and so lethal!!

365 ONE: day 202…Olympics from the TV

Day 202: July 28th, 2012 = COMPLETE!!!!!!!

Cardio was = Walking/Unpacking

Dance of the Day was = “Back to Life” by Soul to Soul

Improvised Acting Video I uploaded to my other blog was = “Baby Name Book”

Anything to Note =

I watched the official start to the London Olympics last night until 3am!!! With the time difference it meant that the opening ceremony didn’t start here in Greece until 11pm and it lasted four hours so it was not over until 3am…..and I of course felt obligated to watch it all despite how tired I was.

I actually missed the start of it, that had Kenneth Brannaugh in it and what looked like an explanation of the pilgrimage and history or something. I was on the phone and so kept peeking in to see but I couldn’t quite figure it out.

But I only missed a little bit so then I was in it for the long haul….with my one eye open at the end, watching the 200 something countries enter with all their athletes that took ages, determined to stay awake though until the end. Nothing some late night snacks couldn’t fix!!

Of course it was supposed to be a family event but both of my parents fell asleep before the ceremony even started! We are in crazy moving and packing mode here so they are both exhausted poor things. My mum went up to wait until it started and fell asleep and my dad sat near me but was out and then kept waking up now and then but immediately dropping off again!!

It felt a little sad actually as the Olympics were going to be a family event. I worked hard to get some tickets for us all to at least be a part of it all together and now I am not sure any of us will get to see anything now live.

Granted the tickets Stuart and I got in the second round were not great – handball and hockey. But I picked those as they are events that are in the Olympic village and were cheap and were available, and so we could at least go in and see everything that you need a ticket to see. But Stuart is back in NYC so he won’t see them. And my mum and I will probably extend our flights to be in Greece a little longer than this Monday – which is when we have booked to fly back to the UK – but we have to be out of the house by tomorrow which we could not anticipate and we are not ready and we just can’t leave on Monday. So tomorrow I will have to change our flights.

Also now there’s talk of whether I should even be going while pregnant with all the crowds and the talk of security issues and that it will be hot and….I would have still liked to go though, but hmmmm….

Regardless, I do have to get back to London soon as my deadline to not fly approaches, plus I just feel, yes in denial, and not in reality, but very….what’s the word…not ready…UNPREPARED…that’s the word!!!!! Seriously. I have no clue what’s going on, but also what hospital, what doctor, what is going on with me and the NHS. Nothing!!! So I can’t extend too long.

Will have to figure out travel plans tomorrow amid the move!

365 ONE: day 201…NYC vs Greece

Day 201: July 27th, 2012 = COMPLETE!!!!!!!

Cardio was = Walking

Dance of the Day was = “Lay Down Sally” by Rod Stewart

Improvised Acting Video I uploaded to my other blog was = “Batty Dating Profile”

Anything to Note =

Stuart left for NYC yesterday. He is now back a million miles away, in our home.

It was weird and sad leaving him to come to Greece when he was in London – that in itself felt far away, but London vs Greece felt better than it does now with NYC vs Greece, being now 7 hours ahead….missing him for hours already and it’s only 8.30am there so can’t message him otherwise I will wake him.

And we have days and days of this ahead to get through.

Odd.

I know Stuart was also sad yesterday as he boarded that plane. And that made it even more sad for me knowing he was also sad….ahhhh good times!!! Ugh.

As he was flying yesterday I was at my little nephew’s birthday party, seeing some family and family friends and of course all they asked about was “Where’s Stuart?” or “Where’s your husband?”…..my what?????

I had a hard time dealing with that….my husband…..that still feels funny!!!!!

And then it’s onto the pregnancy bump and how far long am I and how am I feeling, amid all the babies and five year olds running around!!!

Since the last time I was in Greece, a little under a year ago, a lot has happened! I am now married with a little schmonkey almost here!!!!! CRAZY!!!!

Crazy especially as we were supposed to be having our Greek wedding so some people have not met Stuart yet or for only a brief second, and I kept having to explain that it will now have to be next year with the baptism due to the fact that the exact date of the wedding turned out to be the exact due date of the baby!

It’s all a little hmmmmmm.

They can’t believe I’m old enough and all grown up enough to be sporting a baby bump…..well hello????…..there’re telling me!!!! I can’t believe it!!!!!

Again, all I can say is….ahhhhh good times!!!

Haha!!!

Anything to Note =

I went to bed at almost 5am the other night as had work to do (always lovely when you turn the light off to go to bed and it’s already light out!) And today had to be up at 7am for my 2nd national health nurse appointment that was sadly to my dismay, that I tried hard to change, in Chiswick, at 9.40am!

Crazy times!!!!

Crazy hours!!!!

Soooooo tired!!!!!!

It’s been a couple of days of national health appointments now with one yesterday and one again today. And now I have to wait for a call from the hospital to schedule another appointment there…but I will be going to Greece on Tuesday for a few days so guess that may have to wait for a little bit…although I am coming up to 31 weeks tomorrow sooooo am guessing I need to be at the hospital and the doctors a lot….

Still strange to think about….what?? No idea what is going on??

I have to say that there seems to be a boom of babies around and pregnant ladies! Seriously. Both here and in NYC. In the waiting room there were so many babies both times. The best part was when a mother came in with her triplet stroller!

I am amazed it fit through the door! When I saw it coming I was like – there is no way it will fit through the door….and it did!!

I actually can’t believe that was this morning! What a long day!!!

After the doctors appointment we went into Redhill town to see the Olympic torch relay that was coming through!! It was great but over in literally less than a minute! But still it was exciting!! That kept me awake!!

365 ONE: day 173…Rushing and Running!

Day 173: June 29th, 2012 = COMPLETE!!!!!!

Cardio was = Walking

Dance of the Day was = “Oye Como Va” by Santana

Improvised Acting Video I uploaded to my other blog was = “A/C Heaven”

Anything to Note =

Here we go with the crazy hot days ahead!

Actually yesterday when I had to walk across town from my office at Grand Central to show an apartment up near Lincoln Center I was dying of heat, and yesterday was supposed to be a “non-hot” day!! Non hot…my butt!!

I’m finding it very hard to walk let alone in this humid thick smog like air. For me there’s nothing worse than being too hot when you don’t feel so good. It is the worst for nausea – so it’s not helping how I feel 😦

Less than two weeks until I leave though!!!!!

I have so much to do there is no time to bask in the glory of an A/C for hours upon hours and do nothing! Oh how I wish I had that time to!!

I have a feeling I will be running and rushing right up until the plane takes off….as usual!

Although leaving the country won’t end the running and the rushing…

-I have to head straight to the NHS offices when I arrive to register

-drop off the million bags we’ll both be bringing over to the UK (much to Stuart’s dismay! He is probably cringing right about now as he hates it when I make us carry a million things! Which, I apparently do every time we fly no matter whether it’s a week or for 6 months haha!)

-then head to Redhill

-then the next day driving up to Loughborough to see my sister that I haven’t seen in ages to meet her three new additions (that’s how long its been sadly) as we overlap in the UK for two days only

-back to Redhill to stay and visit with Stuart’s family

-then I fly to Greece for only 5 days to help my parents and see more family before I am unable to fly again

-then back to the UK

-go to our amazing Olympic ticket events we got….and by “amazing” I mean…hmmmmmmm….We got tickets to Handball and Hockey!! Not to offend those sports or athletes at all, but again I say hmmmmmmmm

AND THEN…

I’m hoping I’ll be able to get some rest after that and before I GIVE BIRTH!!!!!!!!!!!

What the???????????

I don’t know!!!!!!!!!! I am not sure the words “rest” or “relax” seem to ever apply to me 😦
